Intercultural Communication Conference Held in Shandong
The 14th Annual International Conference of the CAFIC (China Association for Intercultural Communication) was held at Shandong University in , capital of Shandong province, from June 8 to 10.
More than 500 experts, scholars, college teachers and graduate students from home and abroad took part in the conference, which aimed to promote intercultural communication and research in the global context, improve intercultural , and investigate the relationship between intercultural education and building a shared vision for the future for mankind.
Themed around "Intercultural Education and a Community of Shared Future for Mankind", the conference discussed a series of topics including "intercultural education and foreign language education", "intercultural education and the Belt and Road Initiative" and "intercultural education and innovative talents cultivation".
The conference invited many celebrated scholars in the field of intercultural communication at home and abroad to give keynote speeches, including Professor Sun Youzhong from Beijing Foreign Studies University, Professor Jia Yuxin from the Harbin Institute of Technology, Professor Shan Bo from Wuhan University, Professor Michael Byram from the University of Durham, UK, Professor Patrick Imbert from the University of Ottawa, and Professor Jane Jackson from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The event was jointly organized by the CAFIC, the Foreign Languages and Literature of Shandong University, the Centre for Transcultural Communication and Research of Shandong University, and the Shandong Association of Tertiary Foreign Languages Teaching.
According to the organizing committee, the conference provided opportunities for the exchange of ideas among teachers and scholars so as to encourage academic communication and cooperation.
